Walk Scilly
A beautiful inter-island walk!
5 Islands| 55km | 14 hours
Saturday 19th April 2025
Walk Scilly 2025.
Join Wez for a walk like nothing else; Surrounded by spectacular scenery as you cover all 5 inhabited islands of the Isles of Scilly.
This Multi-Island adventure will see you starting in the dark at 0530 down on the quiet quay of St Marys, heading around the Garrison by torch light. We will hopefully enjoy a Sunrise as we pass around Peninnis looking across to the Eastern Isles. Our group will carry on around the island in an anti-clockwise direction. After completing the circumnavigation, we will be boarding our personal boat and heading off to complete 4 more circumnavigations of the islands of St Agnes, Bryher, Tresco and St Martins.
During the walks Wez will guide you as well as passing on stories from Scilly60 and various other events from the islands.
We will then return to St Marys and enjoy a wander to the Gig Shed Café for a celebratory meal (partners welcome*)
This event is very tricky to organise due to the tides, some islands we have under 10 minutes spare before it is not possible to land. Due to this, we need to walk at a speed of at least 3 miles per hour (or 12:30 mins per km.) If you are unable to hold this pace, I am afraid you will be asked to stop at the end of the island you are struggling on. (If its near the start of an island you may get asked to follow a shortcut back)
Please make sure you are happy at walking this pace before the event. This is NOT a stroll, it will be a long day at a good pace.
This event is limited to just 12 people.
Carry on down for more information and booking links.

Frequently Asked Questions
What will the terrain be like?
All islands have short steep hills. 95% of the walk is on the coast path or trails, with a small amount of walking on beaches/sand and road. Although the maximum elevation is only about 93m there are plenty of ups and downs throughout the day – it is hillier than you may think!
Is there an age limit?
Yes, you must be at least 18 to take part. There is no maximum age limit.
Can I take part in a team?
No – due to limited spaces, only those completing the whole event themselves can take part.
What is the best way to train for this event?
Please don’t think just because the longest walk is 18km that that will be sufficient training. Train at least for a 30 – 40km, and if possible train with broken days of two or more walks per day to simulate the event.
How strict are the timings?
We need to walk at a speed of 3miles an hour (12:30per km) or quicker to be able to access all 5 islands within 1 day. If you cannot hold this pace you will be asked to stop.
Will there be energy stations?
No – you need to plan and carry what you need for each stage. There will be water available on each island as well as shops if you are quick.
What happens to my kit?
You are allowed one hand luggage sized bag for the day, 56 x 45 x 25cm (or 40 litres maximum). This needs to hold everything you need inside; no danglies. You will leave your bag and coat on the boat, a waterproof bag is best. If you miss the cut-off, your bag will be left on the island waiting for you with a member of the team.
Is the boat taking us from island to island covered?
No – there is both an inside and outside area; please take turns and dress accordingly.
If I'm staying on a different island, how do I get to and from the race?
due to the early start you will need to stay on St Marys on Friday. Due to the late finish, it will be easier to stay on St Mary’s on Saturday too
How do I get to the Isles of Scilly? Where do I stay?
You cannot drive to the islands – you will have to take a passenger ferry, plane or helicopter from Penzance/Land’s End, or a plane from Newquay or Exeter.
There are various accommodation options across the islands, including campsites, B&Bs, self-catering cottages and hotels. Be aware that accommodation books up fast.
For details on getting to the islands and where to stay, we recommend looking at the Visit Isles of Scilly website.
What about the environment?
This is a no-litter race, and time penalties will apply for any litter found by sweepers. We will also make a minimum donation of £500 to the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust, which is involved with the organisation of the event.
What if my plans change? Can I defer or have a refund?
Please read this section carefully.
Once you have entered the race, I am not able to offer any refunds or transfers of your entry.
I understand that things can change. I will accept withdrawals from the race at any time up to the 22nd March 2025.
Unfortunately, I am unable to offer refunds, so if you do need to withdraw for any reason, you will be able to move your entry to the 2026 race.
You can only defer your entry once.
If there is space, you can move from one distance to another before 22nd March 2025.
Any deferrals will be subject to payment of an admin / cost inflation fee payable at the point you take up your deferral. You will be sent an email of how to take up your deferral around the date that entries open for the 2026 event. Please ensure you look out for this email as you will only have one week to respond.
Please ensure that you have read and agree to all other terms and conditions and understand the nature of the event before you enter.

The race has limited numbers. There are just 12 seats on the boat. (Should interest be very high and there are at least 8 on the waiting list, then I would look into chartering a second boat. 24 is the absolute maximum number of participants.
